Medieval games take off in Melbourne

Larping, or live action role playing, first started in the 1970s and takes on many forms.

Games involve players, in character, acting out roles within a fictional setting that is represented by the real world.

The goals and rules differ game to game and events range from small hobby groups to large organised events featuring thousands of players and taking place over multiple days.

Swordcraft, a medieval live action battle game, that meets in Melbourne’s inner north usually attracts about 300 participants each week.

I went along on a Friday night and talked to Heather Valerie Cox, 21, from Narre Warren South, a player and volunteer.
